A website dedicated to make information about the Ancient Near East and Assyriology more accessible online. A lot of content about Assyriology is laden on the pages of books that are obscure, hard to find, and when you do get your hands on a copy the text itself is filled with technical speech that I feel is a hinderance to learning. With this website I hope to offer a less "technical" approach that anyone could understand as long as they can read and have an internet connection :).

The Sumerians were the first civilization that we have written record of, settling in Mesopotamia as early as 4000 B.C.

The Akkadians were a semetic people to the north of Sumer. The Akkadians came into control of the region in 2334BC under the rule of Sargon and founded the world's first empire.

The Gutians are an elusive people group from the Zagros mountains. We do not know much about them, other than they ended the near 200 year long reign of the Akkadians.
